Dr Usman's research on theoretical simulations of silicon qubit devices and quantum computer architectures awarded 2019 Dean's Award for Excellence in Research (Early Career) in the Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne. November 2019:




Dr Usman's MSc student (co-supervised with Prof. Hollenberg) successfully presented completion talk of his MSc thesis. He worked on the investigation of electronic signature of symmetry breaking in MgPc dimers adsorbed on Ag surfaces by formulating a theoretical framework based on DFT electronic structure calculations and STM/STS simulations. Congratulations to Spiro Gicev!




September 2019:


Dr Usman will present an invited talk at the 20th International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS-ICA), 22-26 September 2019 in Perth.

Our project proposal titled "Large-scale quantum computer technology simulations" won 500 KSUs CPU time on Australia's HPC National Computing Infrastructure in a nationwide competition. This will allow us to run computationally intensive simulations on two state-of-the-art supercomputers: Magnus and Raijin
